I took classes with Mentor Merlin at the Northampton Centre, and I want to be completely honest about my journey. Before joining the onsite training, I wasn't prepared at all. I had attended a few online sessions, which were very helpful, but when it came to actually performing the skills, I was at level zero. My onsite training started on 8th June, and my OSCE exam was on 15th June. Imagine starting from scratch with just one week to prepare! I was extremely nervous. The classes were absolutely worth every penny. Day by day, they boosted my confidence. As the exam got closer, I kept thinking that I would only pass a few stations and would have to resit the rest. Finally, exam day arrived. I felt prepared because of the training. I also want to mention something honestly—I only practised during the classes. After coming home, I didn't even touch my books, I swear! The sessions were more than enough because they gave me complete clarity about what to expect and how to approach each station. When I entered the test centre, I was so nervous that I made a few silly mistakes, like missing some documentation and taking long pauses while verbalising my actions. When I came out of the exam, I was convinced that I would have to resit. But when I received my result, I was in tears—I had passed! I don't know about other assessors, but mine was very professional and didn't smile at all. At first, I thought that was a bad sign. Looking back now, I truly believe she saw beyond my nervousness. Of course, practice is important, and everyone should practise as much as possible. But I believe she recognised my intentions, my clinical knowledge, my skills, and the safe care I was trying to provide. That gave me confidence that the exam is not just about being perfect—it's about demonstrating safe and competent nursing practice. A huge thank you to the entire Mentor Merlin team for the incredible contribution they made to my success. Even after the exam, they have continued to support me with the next steps of the process. Every mentor is knowledgeable, patient, approachable, and genuinely committed to helping their students succeed.
