To secure a nursing job in the UK, overseas nurses must register with the NMC, prove English proficiency, obtain a CoS from an approved employer, and apply for the Health and Care Worker visa. Meeting these requirements ensures eligibility to work in the NHS or adult social care sector.

1. Professional Qualification

  • Must be a qualified nurse in your home country.
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is mandatory.
  • NMC registration involves:
  • Passing the CBT (Computer Based Test) – theory exam.
  • Passing the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) – practical exam in the UK.

2. English Language Proficiency

  • Required to demonstrate English skills through:
  • IELTS Academic (minimum overall 7.0, with 6.5 in writing and 7.0 in other sections), or
  • OET (Occupational English Test) with grade B in all modules.

3.Visa & Sponsorship

  • Apply under the Health and Care Worker visa route.
